JDM
Julien Roudebush, professionally known as JDM, is a French, American and British hard dance DJ based in the UK.
Having always listened to a lot of music, Julien came across DJing by accident at the age of 14, decided to give it a go, and was soon absolutely hooked to his new-found passion. Julien DJed as often as he could – sometimes for up to eight hours a day – and was now constantly listening to new music, in search of the best songs to bring to his future audiences. As with many DJs, he started with house music, before moving more towards bigroom and exploring hip-hop, and started his journey as a hard dance DJ at 15 years old after coming across a couple of tracks he became obsessed with.
For the next couple of years, Julien mostly stuck to hardstyle: a sub-genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which tends to range from 140 to 155 beats per minute (BPM), categorised by bassy kick drums, euphoric melodies, and lots of energy, but found himself going towards increasingly harder styles, notably frenchcore (another sub-genre of EDM, normally ranging from 190 to 210 BPM, also categorised by lots of bass and powerful melodies, but often even more energetic than hardstyle) by the time he was 17. Since turning 19, he now covers pretty much all kinds of hard dance music, and produces his own music as well.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic preventing him from getting any live gigs for nearly two years, JDM started a weekly mix series on the online platform Mixcloud, which has now been going for over 3 years (or 150 weeks). With these mixes, Julien has worked with over 30 DJs from all around the world, and has charted consistently not only in the UK, but also globally, racking up 40 weeks and counting of global number 1s on various Mixcloud charts including Hardstyle, Frenchcore, Rawstyle, Jumpstyle, and Hardcore/Hard Dance.
In July 2023, Julien rebranded to JDM from DJulien, and marked this with a free download on SoundCloud and the release of his first ever official release, his EP ‘Never Stop The Rave’ on SEUA. This new era in his career is marked by a cleaner sound, a stronger direction, and more bass than ever before. He dreams of headlining festivals including Defqon.1, Tommorowland, Parookaville, Dominator, Masters of Hardcore, and Thunderdome one day, and is working tirelessly to achieve this.
As he always says: we’re only just getting started.
